Event Planning Expo
When: Monday, September 14, 2026 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Where: Coffman Memorial Union - President's Room (Rm 332)
This interactive training is designed to help student group leaders navigate the event planning process and connect with the campus resources available to support successful programs and events.
The Event Planning Expo begins with a brief overview of key event planning concepts before transitioning into an expo-style experience. Participants will have the opportunity to visit topic-specific tables staffed by Student Activities staff and campus partners, ask questions, gather resources, and receive personalized guidance based on their event goals and needs.
As a result of this training, you will be able to: identify key steps in the event planning process, connect with campus offices and resources that support student events, develop strategies for budgeting, marketing, logistics, and risk management, and create an action plan for your next student group event.
Students are encouraged to come prepared with an event idea or upcoming program they would like to discuss.

Officer Transitions Webinar

This virtual training is designed to support student groups in creating smooth and successful officer transitions that help organizations stay strong from year to year.
This event focuses on preparing outgoing and incoming leaders to effectively share knowledge, transfer responsibilities, and build continuity within student organizations. Thoughtful transitions help preserve organizational history, reduce confusion, and set new leaders up for success.
As a result of this training, you will be able to: identify key information and responsibilities to pass along, create a transition plan for your organization, apply strategies for effective communication between outgoing and incoming officers, and support leadership continuity for future success.

Student Group Insurance Webinar

This virtual training is designed to help student group leaders understand insurance requirements and risk considerations when planning events and activities.
This event focuses on understanding when insurance may be needed, what types of activities involve additional risk considerations, and how student organizations can plan events while remaining compliant with University expectations. Having a stronger understanding of insurance requirements can help groups make informed decisions, reduce risk, and avoid unexpected challenges during event planning. Information discussed will include common situations such as large events, activities involving the public, travel, and other higher-risk programming considerations.
As a result of this training, you will be able to: identify situations in which student group insurance may be required, understand the purpose of liability coverage, locate campus resources related to event planning and risk management, and apply insurance considerations when planning future student group activities.
