About the Artist - Knifeplay
Knifeplay is a band that eludes definition, existing somewhere between the nihilistic detachment of shoegaze and the emotional honesty of folk songwriting. Originally a solo bedroom recording project of Tj Strohmer’s, they’ve made a slow and careful shift into a collaborative, production focused, studio recorded band. Through their ever-expanding genre palette, range of fidelities, and long list of collaborators runs a unique current that ties everything together.
Informed by his experiences living in Philadelphia and their contrast with his rural southern Maryland upbringing, Strohmer’s sometimes straightforward, sometimes dreamlike, but always philosophical lyrics feature scenes of darkness from many different aspects of life.

Fresh off the release of their sophomore LP Pave Desire, Chicago's Stalled frantically adjusts the dial on their ever-evolving wall of sound between anthemic and crushing. Sharp, angular guitars, off-kilter rhythms and screaming samples of deranged preachers all collide in their take of post-whateveryouwannacallit.
About the Artist - 12th House Sun
12th House Sun is an alt rock/shoegaze band from Minneapolis, MN. The band was originally started by vocalist Kyle Schultz (he/him) as a solo project, and now is joined by Ry Shea (they/them) on backing vocals and guitar, Gabriel Miller (they/them) on lead guitar, Bee Schreiner (they/them) on bass, and Sage Livergood (they/them) on drums. The band brings a hard hitting cathartic sound, while all around atmospheric and hook driven.

What is the bag policy?
A small purse or bag under 4.5”x6.5” is permitted - but we encourage you to bring as little as possible. We prefer you leave your bag at home, but if you must bring your bag, it will be searched and we may ask you to check it in the coat room. Not bringing in a bag will expedite entry for yourself and other patrons. A full list of items that are not permitted in The Whole can be found on our Frequently Asked Questions.
Does the Whole Music Club have water or food available?
Water is available for free at the drinking fountain near the bathrooms in the venue. The Whole does not offer food and is an alcohol-free venue, but there are vending machines on the same floor of Coffman Memorial Union with snacks for purchase.
Will I need an ID to attend an event at The Whole? Can I attend if I'm under 18 years old?
Yes, you will need a Photo ID to enter the venue during 18+ events. Acceptable forms of ID are:
- U Card
- Valid, State-Issued, Driver's License (not clipped or punched VOID)
- Valid, State-issued, Identification Card (with photo)
- Valid Learner's Permit (with photo)
- Valid Passport
- Valid Tribal ID
- Valid Military ID
- *Valid = Unexpired
If you don't have one of the above, acceptable combinations of IDs:
- Valid Yellow Papers from the DMV and a Clipped/Invalidated State ID/License/Permit (with photo)
Customers with a restricted ID will not be permitted if suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and their ticket will not be refunded.
Underage persons can only attend age-limited events at The Whole Music Club if they are accompanied by their own parent, or legal guardian in addition to proof of guardianship.
Is there seating available?
Yes! The Whole has seating on the upper level of the venue (accessible by stairs or ramp) for all shows, and additional seating at tables and chairs for certain events such as Open Mic Night.
What is the venue's camera policy?
Our standard policy allows cell phones cameras only (no detachable lenses). Flash photography is not permitted.
