Student Group Empowerment Series

The Student Group Resource Center Open House has been postponed to Friday, September 1, 2023 at 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm in Coffman Memorial Union on the second floor. Visit z.umn.edu/SGRC (opens in a new tab) for more information about the resources available.

Groups interested in planning creative promotion strategies through the year are encouraged to attend the Student Group Empowerment Series. This series is a new collaboration with the Student Group Resource Center (opens in a new tab) and the Toaster (opens in a new tab). Student groups will have the opportunity to network with other participating student groups, create a prototype for future promotional materials (including buttons and stickers), unlock opportunities for growth and networking, and more. Student groups are encouraged to register in advance at z.umn.edu/sgempowermentseries (opens in a new tab).

During each event, student groups will have the opportunity to network through an optional Creative Promotion workshop. This workshop aims to educate student groups about the advantages of creating an outreach plan and promotional materials to help expand the reach of their respective student groups. Attendees will be able to create a prototype for their promotion plans throughout the year in the Breakerspace. Lastly, Student Group Services Advisors will also be available for in-person general advising.

September 1, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Student Group Resource Center Open House in Coffman Memorial Union on the second floor

  • Students will have the opportunity to learn about resource offerings and how to reserve items in the Student Group Resource Center

September 11, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at The Toaster

  • Creative Promotion Workshops at 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm

September 12, 2023 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at The Toaster

No, attendees may come and leave as they are able.

May I design promotional materials for my student group during the event?

Certainly! This event serves as a platform for you to create promotional prototypes. Please be mindful that resources are limited and you will be unable to make large amounts of materials.

I have other questions related to my group’s operations. Will there be staff available for general advising?

Yes! Student Group Services staff will be available during the event to assist with general advising. Student groups may also schedule a general advising appointment with their assigned advisor at z.umn.edu/studentgroupadvising (opens in a new tab).
