Requirements

  • Current University of Minnesota student enrolled at least half-time (undergraduate student, 6 credits; graduate student, 3 credits)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous office or customer service experience
  • Has some knowledge of Student Activities or some involvement experience on campus
  • At least one semester of experience within Student Activities at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities

Essential Functions:

Student Activities Assistants primarily provide assistance with specific organizational initiatives such as a Grants Assistant or Communications Assistant or Student Group Training and Webinar Assistant or the Student Activities Office Front Desk Student Manager. Administration of the grants program includes maintaining all records (including accurate budgets), facilitating communication with grant applicants and recipients and assisting the Grants committee. Communications Assistants help with the coordination of student group communications, identifying information relevant to all student group officers, and documenting metrics related to communication efforts. Administration of the outdoor space application process includes enforcing outdoor policies and procedures, maintaining all records (including application status and timeline), facilitating communication with outdoor space applicants and coordinating with other areas of the campus community. They are also knowledgeable about general office function in order to represent the office accurately when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 70% Collaborating with advisors on the facilitation of focused initiatives such as grants or outdoor space
  • 20% Collaborating with advisors and fellow employees on various projects, as assigned
  • 10% Assisting other student staff as needed to ensure timely customer service is provided
