About Yellow Ostrich¶

Yellow Ostrich is an experimental indie rock project centered around singer/songwriter Alex Schaaf. Emerging in 2009, Schaaf's lo-fi/bedroom pop emissions were eventually fleshed out by a handful of co-conspirators, and the band issued five more and a handful of EPs before going on hiatus after the release of 2014's "Cosmos". Yellow Ostrich reformed as a five-piece in 2021 and released the lush and inward-looking "Soft". The task of opening up and building bonds with other people instead of building more emotional armor over time takes work, and it requires like-minded collaborators, trusted friends, and love. Schaaf has long been a consummate assembler of outstanding supporting players to help realize his musical vision, and for the recording of Soft he enlisted the help of a few friends, including drummer Marian Li-Pino (La Luz, Donna Missal), bassist Megan Mahoney (Lissie), guitarist Mike Noyce (Bon Iver, Tallest Man on Earth), and studio and mix engineer Zach Hanson (Bon Iver, Gordi, Whitney, Waxahatchee, Hand Habits), with a guest appearance on album standout “Los Angeles” by the returning Yellow Ostrich member and great multi-instrumentalist Jon Natchez (David Byrne, The War on Drugs).
About bugsy¶

Eclosion is the scientific word for a butterfly's emergence from its chrysalis. Although not actually composed of butterflies or any real insects - Minneapolis-based indie rock band bugsy found themselves emerging from their own figurative chrysalis as they evolved from their origins as a collection of home-recorded demos posted to bandcamp, to a full band project playing college basement shows, to their first-ever venue show to a sold out crowd of 750 people in July of 2021.
bugsy's debut EP, "Teratoma," released in February 2020, showcased their indie-grunge sound by blending fast, driving rhythms, indie rock guitar riffs with emo twinges, catchy melodies, and weaving vocal harmonies. In the absence of live shows, they grew a following by posting live performance videos on TikTok. Since then, bugsy has continued to build momentum, playing a slew of shows throughout the Midwest and releasing a string of standalone singles, with the latest being "Slip N' Slide." They are currently working on finishing their newest EP, set to release in late 2023.
