Dark, Light, & Line
Playing with darks and lights, contrasts and shadows, and working with interchanging stories. These themes and techniques are at work in Dark, Light, and Line.
What can we understand and learn from the stories living in the shadows? If you imagine life as a single line, where does it connect with others, where is it straight, curved, or twisted? Consider the works of Lauren Faherty, who uses lines in her practice as fluid expressions of ever-changing human existence. As well as find stories in the shadows with Aaron Schwartz’s chilling oil figure paintings. His representations deal with visions of humanity, social interactions, and emotional experiences in uncomfortable situations.
