Eventbrite - Caroline Smith and Luke Michaels

Caroline Smith has been making music since the 90’s as a neo-soul artist with indie-rock roots; but her new album shows her transiting from being a girl to becoming a woman who knows what she wants from her music and from life. Released earlier this fall, the suitably named Half About Being A Woman is about going back to your roots to embrace who you are now. Smith says that over the past year she has embraced “that being a strong, confident, opinionated woman is something to be proud of, not subdued.” This transition is a part of the constant evolution of Caroline’s work. With each new album she pushes herself with soring vocals and catchy melodies that are consistently strong throughout her work. The video for her new albums most popular tracks “Magazine” embodies it’s theme of woman embracing femininity and surpassing social expectations. With women of all shapes and sizes dancing around in their under-cloths while eating mass quantities of junk food and having a blast, this music video is a refreshing polar opposite from anything else you’ll see coming from female artists in the music industry.
