Meet the Artist: Momma
Momma is the musical project of Allegra Weingarten and Etta Friedman. After moving to New York from Los Angeles, the two brought on bassist and producer Aron Kobayashi Ritch, and drummer Preston Fulks, to flesh out their sound. Produced by Kobayashi Rich, Momma’s new album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, lays bare all of the precious and all of the ugly experiences of falling in and out of love, and the art of keeping secrets. Check out Momma on Instagram, Spotify and their Website.
Meet the Artist: Raffaella
On LIVE, RAFF, LOVE, Raffaella confronts and contorts the liminal space between adolescence and adulthood, creating a world with as much novelty as there is nostalgia.
The Minneapolis-based artist narrates with a specificity so intense you immediately absorb each sensory detail (the cotton candy and cigarette smoke, drunken kisses and stoned malaise). In following the shape of a play, LIVE, RAFF, LOVE's Act II evolves into something heavier. The result is a body of work establishing Raffaella as one of pop’s sharpest observers of human behavior, transforming her self-reflection into revelatory insight on the sublime chaos in coming-of-age.
Meet the Artist: bugsy
bugsy wants to tell you that it’s okay to be alone. The Minneapolis quartet listens empathetically and reflects solitude into an emotional cacophony. Formed by vocalist/guitarist Emily Schoonover (they/them), lead guitarist Griffen Desai (he/him), bassist/vocalist Shannon Maroney (they/them), and drummer Al Norman (he/him), bugsy dove into the world with their debut EP teratoma in early 2020 and has yet to take a breath. Each new song illuminates their ferocious, personal take on fire-breathing DIY indie punk. bugsy has played shows around the country, supporting bands like Destroy Boys, Weatherday, and Skating Polly, filling venues like First Avenue (Minneapolis), the Metro, and Lincoln Hall (Chicago). Check out the band on Instagram, YouTube, and on their website.
