Utopic Optimization
Utopic Optimization is based on digital collages of found images and texts that investigate the virtual world which exists parallel to reality. By engaging with insular online communities who have developed their own languages and cultural norms, the artist Jordan Homstad creates sociological portraits of contemporary identity that examine the ways the online self both mirrors and diverges from the offline self. Their work engages with ideas of loneliness, physical connection, and idealized existence, all of which are essential components of virtual identity.
