Music Industry Job Series

Monday, October 26th, 7:30 p.m. Zoom Meeting

This is a music panel where different speakers who work in the music industry join UMN students in a Zoom conversation. During the panel, a speaker will discuss their role in the industry and answer questions for students who are interested in entering this field of work. There will be four different Zoom panels, once per month beginning on September 29th.

October 26: James Taylor moved to Minneapolis in 2015 after spending 16 years in Austin, TX, where he attended the University of Texas and dedicated his life to a career in music after graduating. As a touring musician, James has performed in 35 states and 5 countries. James' resume of music industry experience includes artist booking and management as well as venue production and management. Previous board positions include the Austin Music Foundation, focused on career development and mentoring for aspiring professional musicians, and Austin Music People, an advocacy group for “bands, brands, and fans” in the Live Music Capital. In 2012, James and business partners opened Holy Mountain, a 200-capacity bar and live music venue in Austin’s Red River Cultural District. Most recently, James joined the booking team at First Avenue in 2017 and the Board of Directors at Twin Cities Catalyst Music in 2020.
