Lunch with Leaders: Dionne Dillard
Ms. Dionne Dillard (pronouns: she/her/hers) graduated from the College of Liberal Arts as a double major in African/African-American Studies and Political Science from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. As a student, Ms. Dillard was the All-Campus Elections Commission President, Black Student Union President, and a Student Ambassador with the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE). Ms. Dillard has always had the passion for advocacy and civil rights. She avidly volunteered throughout the Twin Cities, such as the Saint Paul Urban League, to provide equal resource access throughout the community. After focusing on familial obligations, Ms. Dillard left her Fortune 500 position at Target Corporation and moved to the East Coast. Now a resident of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area, Ms. Dillard had a fruitful career in education as a High School Counselor in Washington, D.C. and in higher education throughout Maryland as an Admissions Counselor and Program Manager. However, she has only scratched the surface of being a social justice advocate by protecting the civil and constitutional rights of all individuals. Currently in her last year at the University of the District of Columbia – David A. Clarke School of Law, and serving as the coveted Editor-In-Chief for the school’s Law Review, she looks forward to graduation in 2022 and successfully passing the bar in the summer. As she weighs her options for employment opportunities, Ms. Dillard looks forward to securing a prominent legal position – one where she can continue her commitment to public service and where she can effectively utilize the law to bring more awareness about the importance of equality in communities of color.
