Inspired by the greats of funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, and Reggae, the six musicians of ZULUZULUU create a new and modern sound. They wish to continue the legacy and culture of this music, through their exploratory sound. Co-producer and MC, Greg Grease, explains their approach saying, “Black excellence is always our goal, to inspire greatness through sonics and to pay homage to our ancestors.” Through various synths, drum machines, and instruments, they do just that, producing soulful and memorable melodies that inspire their listener.
Ashley DuBose is a budding singer/songwriter, based right here in the Twin Cities. She released her debut album, Somethin’ More, in May 2012, and has been performing heavily around the Twin Cities since then. With influences ranging from India Arie to Alanis Morissette, Ashley’s musical style is very eclectic, soulful, and appeals to a variety of audiences.
SPEAK is a University of Minnesota student group whose goal is to foster an open and safe community for people from all walks of life to discover and practice the power of (spoken word) poetry.
