Re-inventing Landscapes: Works by Sophia Heymans & Timothy Bruehl
Date & Time
Fri, Aug 25, 2017 - Fri, Oct 6, 2017
St. Paul Student Center, Larson Art Gallery

Sophia Heymans has been a Minneapolis-based artist since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2012. Heymans uses her imagination and memory to create large-scale rural landscapes. The materials she collects near the river— moss, burrs, seeds— become the plants and landforms in her paintings.

Timothy Bruehl is a University of Minnesota alumni who has developed a technique of acrylic on panel. Bruehl aims to deconstruct familiar cityscapes into simple shapes and colors.

Heymans and Bruehl invite the viewer to perceive our surrounding landscapes in a new distinct, refreshing way.

The reception for Re-inventing Landscapes will take place on Friday, September 15th at 6PM, more information can be found here.
