Description

The Student Marketing Videographer/Photographer's primary responsibility is to shoot and edit photographs and video for events that are planned by SUA and select events that occur in Student Union facilities. Images/video will be added to the SUA archive and may be used for exhibits and promotional initiatives. The Videographer/Photographer will work with a team within Student Unions and Activities to ensure that a variety of events are documented over the course of the school year.

Requirements

  • Current UMTC student. See student employment eligibility
  • Understanding of introductory video and/or photography principles and editing
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and on deadline
  • Ability to collaborate with ideas on projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Majoring in Art, Photography, Journalism, Cinema & Media Culture, or Communications related major.
  • Experience expressing ideas via visual media
  • Experience using relevant computer programs and social media, e.g. Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc) Google Suite, MS Office; Facebook, Instagram, etc.

This photographer position will work with the Student Unions & Activities Marketing Department.

Position may require some evenings and weekends to attend events as well as accommodate photography and/or videography requests.

Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5pm, plus occasional evenings and weekends. Working hours vary, ranging from 10 hours to 20 hours per week.

The position's start date will be flexible. However, the successful applicant will be available and eligible for work during the summer, Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semester. Applicants must be available and eligible to work in Spring 2024.

Restrictions

  1. You must be able to work for the Spring.
  2. You must be able to work 3 shifts per week.
