The Student Unions & Activities (SUA) Student Events and Entertainment (SEE) intends to further the cultural, educational, social, entertainment, and recreational needs of the students and campus community through providing campus-wide programs.

The SEE Event Planners develop program planning skills and provide leadership experience through initiating, developing, and implementing a diverse event schedule.

The SEE Game Rooms Planners have committee specific responsibilities that include planning in-person and virtual events (e.g. Bingo and Trivia) for Goldy's Gameroom and large events for Goldy's Gameroom and the Gopher Spot

  • Current University of Minnesota student meeting Student Employment Eligibility requirements while holding position
  • Must be able to be scheduled 10-15 hours a week during the academic year and attend scheduled retreats and meetings
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and leadership skills
  • Proficient in Google Applications Suite
  • Ability to receive and delegate tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work in a team-focused atmosphere
  • Prior event programming and/or event coordination experience
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.

Notes for This Posting

The successful applicant for the Student Events & Entertainment Game Room Event Planners will be eligible to hold a U of MN student position and expect to be be available and eligible from May, 2021 through Spring, 20222

The Event Planners work up to 15 hours during the academic year and up to 10 hours per week over the summer.

Standard business hours are 8:30am-5pm, weekdays. Both virtual and in-person event times vary, but will, include evenings and weekends.

Event Planners must be available for mandatory time commitments:
Ongoing (Summer, Fall, Spring)

  • Student Events and Entertainment meetings
  • Advisor, team, and departmental meetings as assigned

Summer 2021

  • Regular check-ins with advisor and team (does not need to be completed in the office)
  • Anticipate up to 10 hours per week
  • Work will be performed remotely until approximately August 2nd. We expect staff will return to working in the Student Activities Office (housed in 126 Coffman Memorial Union) around August 2

Welcome Week 2021

  • Activities and responsibilities to be determined

Homecoming 2021

  • Additional hours anticipated. Assist with execution at events that do not interfere with class
  • Available to help execute Homecoming Parade or Concert

Spring Jamâ„¢ 2022

  • Attendance and support of events that do not interfere with class. Additional hours anticipated.

The advisor to the Game Room Event Planner committee expects to complete hiring by May 1, 2021
