Description

Student Audio-Visual Technicians (AV Techs) are a part of the Event Services Office providing technical support for a wide range of events, concerts, films, and conferences. Responsibilities include the set-up and operation of A/V equipment such as data projection, audio amplification, and general theatrical lighting. A/V Techs are required to attend weekly staff meetings and are scheduled primarily for evening and weekend shifts. Customer service is integral to this position.

Requirements

  • Current UMN-TC degree seeking student. See Student employment eligibility
  • Knowledge of, or strong interest in learning, audio/visual technologies and how they operate
  • Ability to be able to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • A flexible schedule with the ability to work more hours when needed, particularly during evenings and weekends.
  • 1 year or equivalent working in a related Audio/Visual events venue or other documented Audio/Visual operations experience.

Notes for This Posting

This position is based at the St. Paul Student Center (SPSC) with additional shifts and hours available at Coffman Memorial Union (CMU).

During the academic year, between the SPSC and CMU sites, staff may be schedule during the following times:

  • Monday-Thursday 7:00 am - 11 pm
  • Friday 7:00 am - 12 midnight
  • Saturday 8am - 12 midnight
  • Sunday 12 noon - 11pm

Most shifts will be scheduled on weekends

Minimum shift length is two hours.

The manager hopes to complete hiring by the second week of Spring Semester
