Title: Senior Student Manager

Level: Advanced

Essential Functions:

Senior Student Managers assist the full-time manager in the responsibilities and tasks necessary to successfully operate their respective location and managing a staff consisting of Student Managers (SMs) and Customer Service Associates (CSAs). They are responsible for supervision, operations management, and high-level administrative tasks. Senior Student Managers are expected to be proactive in conceptualizing, developing and implementing projects that will improve operations. Senior Student Managers must be available to be scheduled 12 to 25 hours per week (depending on location).

Senior Student Managers are based at Goldy's Gameroom, Coffman Memorial Union Postal Station, Coffman Memorial Union Gopher Express, West Bank Skyway's Gopher Express West, Concessions, St. Paul Student Center Postal Station and The Gopher Spot

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Provides leadership for Student Managers and Customer Service Associates as well as fosters a productive and positive work environment; ensures excellent customer service; develops and schedules employee training programs and materials; trains, coaches, and evaluates staff, assists in planning staff meetings, assigns, oversees, and monitors tasks and responsibilities
  • Operations Duties: Produces and analyzes sales and inventory reports, maintains spreadsheets, proposes operational improvements provides updates to staff and management as needed, maintains external relationships, assists in developing and implementing marketing and promotional tactics, monitors pricing, profit margins, and inventory levels, orders products and supplies.
  • Administrative duties: Assist with scheduling and verifying time cards, assists with interviewing applicants for CSA and SM positions, performs audits, creates forms, assists in maintaining point-of-sale software, processes invoices and daily deposits.
  • Specialized projects: Researches new products and services, proposes changes to processes, takes the lead on existing area-specific initiatives and student programming, conceptualizes and develops new initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned, including: covers CSA breaks and shifts when needed, covers SM tasks if needed, completes special projects or tasks as assigned.
