Come join us after Rhymesayers Talk Hip-Hop with Toure for a Whole Music Club After-Party. There we will have a great line up of local hip-hop artists featuring Ashley DeBose with Greg Grease and U of M’s Voices Merging.
Local Soul and R&B artist Ashley DuBose can be seen preforming as a contestant on NBC’s current season of “The Voice”. After her debut performance of Rihanna’s “Diamonds”, all of the show’s four judges argued to get her on their team for the show’s competition but DeBose chose Adam Levine, lead singing of Maroon 5, to be her coach during the show’s season. Come see a talent that Christina Aguilera herself is envious of live as DeBose returns to perform for her beloved Twin Cities.
Voted City Pages Best Hip-Hop artist 2013, Greg Grease’s tracks of smoky throwback jazz loops with powerful and heavy rhymes has been echoing throughout our fare cities. The Minneapolis rapper has received great praise for his late-2012 release Cornbread, Pearls & G which talks about the real issues of inner-city violence and domestic struggles but with a fresh and classic spin.
Voices Merging is a multicultural student group and a performance group here at the University of Minnesota, dedicated to provide venues, workshops and comfortable atmosphere for performing artists. Starting in 2002, Voices Merging has grown to be a driving force not only for young performance artists but has also continued a tradition of spoken word in Minnesota.
