UMAA Student Leadership Awards

Overview of Award

The University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) annually awards $500 scholarships to undergraduate student leaders for their academic achievement, personal character, leadership qualities and contributions to the University of Minnesota. Candidates must first apply for the President's Student Leadership & Service Award (PSLSA) in order to be considered for this award.

Evaluation Criteria

  1. Undergraduate Student
  2. 2012 President's Student Leadership and Service Award Recipient
  3. 3.25 GPA (as of Dec 31, 2011)
  4. Personal interview

Application Process

  1. Candidates for this award must first apply for the President's Student Leadership and Service Award
  2. The PSLSA Selection Committee will forward a pool of qualified undergraduate students as candidates to the UMAA Award Selection Committee. This committee also considers candidates for the Donald R. Zander Award
  3. The PSLSA Selection Committee will notify PSLSA recipients of their award and provide them with information on the subsequent UMAA Student Leadership Award Application process
  4. UMAA Candidate Notification: March 5-9, 2012
  5. UMAA Candidate Interviews: March 26–30, 2012
  6. UMAA Recipient Notification: April 2-6, 2012
  7. Awards presented at the President's Award Banquet on Monday, April 30, 2012.
