Minnesota Royal annual event, held each spring to celebrate agriculture. The week-long event is hosted primarily through the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences but is open to any student group that wishes to participate.
Group's principal activities, events, or programs:
Minnesota Royal is a week long event celebrating agriculture on the St. Paul campus. Students in organizations compete against each other in skits, Ag Challenge, the Royal Run, Milkmaid Contest, Stock the Trailer Philanthropy, Ag Olympics and Animal Calling, as well as showmanship contests. Toward the end of the week, a concert by Johnny Holms helps conclude the celebration.
How this group's activities benefit the University community:
The activities during Minnesota Royal open up relationships within other campus organizations and allows for meeting new people through numerous interactive activities and events. Our philanthropy event is a food drive that is open to all people; not only participants in MN Royal events. By doing so, the ability to donate food is open to any person who feels motivated to participate and donate for a good cause.
How this group fits into its categories:
We fit in with the Special Events category because we hold a week long event that occurs usually in April each year. It is a long running tradition that is on its 97th year.
How to get involved with this group:
If anyone is interested in being part of MN Royal, all that you need to do is be involved in one of the campus organizations that are participating and be registered on ther participant roster. It is very easy to find an organization that fits your interests on the St. Paul Campus. Feel free to contact any of the officers listed or visit or website for more information!
