About this Group

Group Description
A bowling league, primarily for law students, to encourage a cooperative environment.
Group's principal activities, events, or programs:
Our principle activities will consist of weekly bowling at a local and easily accessible bowling alley. We intend to structure a league made up of four to five person teams. The end of the "season" will hopefully include a tournament to determine the best bowlers in the world.
How this group's activities benefit the University community:
The league will provide an opportunity for athletic and recreational activity for friendly competition. It will allow law students to meet each other in a setting that is relaxed and conducive to community building. For more benefits, see Robert Putnam's article "Bowling Alone" in the Journal of Democracy 6:1, Jan 1995, 65-78.
How this group fits into its categories:
Our bowling league fits in to the sports and recreational category because bowling is an athletic competitive activity. It is also a traditional American recreational pastime.
How to get involved with this group:
People can get involved in the group by registering with a team at the beginning of the bowling season, or by contacting the officers of the league to arrange assignment to a team once the season has begun. There is no membership application. We will establish a relationship with a particular bowling alley and conduct league activities at that location at a consistent time.
