Customer Service Associates (CSAs) are the front line service providers to guests. CSAs answer general questions about the St. Paul Student Center (SPSC), the U of MN Campus, and Twin Cities meetings, events, and activities via the phone and in person. They also handle and provide assistance with postal services, discount and seasonal ticket sales, SPSC locker rentals, creation of replacement U Cards, and distribution of the U-Pass and Campus Zone Pass. CSAs are responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the work area, stocking merchandise, cashiering, and other entry-level tasks.

  • Current UMTC student. See student employment eligibility
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

  • Minimum 8 hours/week availability during hours of operation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Basic knowledge of the U of M - Twin Cities campuses

Notes for This Posting

The successful applicant will be available to work some weekdays and a rotation on Saturdays (This doesn't mean you'll be scheduled to work every Saturday! You will be scheduled to work occasional Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.). We are looking for applicants that can start in in January and work through the Spring Semester. All shifts will be a minimum of two consecutive hours, and staff will be scheduled up to 30 minutes before/after the hours of operation for the Post Office and Information Desk to account for opening and closing activities.

The Spring 2019 Semester hours of operation for the St Paul Student Center Post Office & Information Desk are:

  • Mon-Fri: 8:00am - 7:00pm
  • Sat: 11:00 noon - 5:00 pm
  • Sundays: Closed

Applicants with work study awards are welcome!

If you are available to start training before the Spring Semester begins, please include this in your application.

Applicants interested and eligible to continue working into summer and/or the Fall 2019 semester will be preferred.


  1. You must be able to work for the Spring.
  2. You must be able to work 8-15 hours per week.
  3. You must be able to work 3 shifts per week.
  4. You must be able to work the following shift:
    • Saturday, 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
