Description

Motifs and repetition in art can have sometimes profound consequences. The obsession one person experiences through repeated thoughts and recurring images can make a person explore their world in a new and sometimes fascinating way. Nature can take on new, uncharacteristic meaning, and life begins to express itself anew.

Dana Sikkila is an installation artist who explores the idea of obsession and repetition through the lens of a woman’s mind, creating pieces that pair repetitive themes of nature with the space confined within the four walls of a gallery. Her work testifies to the humor and creativity one can experience in a world of chaos and calamity. Come see her show Murphy Mark, opening May 25.
